SUMMER LEARNING TIPS

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Good morning everyone.

http://www.ziggurat.es/bank/doc/docums/Fresh%20Summer%20English.pdf

También os animo a visitar la sección de recursos pedagógicos del ZIGSpace, en el siguiente link:

http://www.ziggurat.es/es/recursos_ingles.asp

Y si estáis registrado en el ZIGSpace, podéis hacer las actividades que encontraréis en el apartado de la Daily Vitamin. A continuación incluimos algunas sugerencias.

Have a great summer and we'll see you on September 15th.

SUMMER CLASSICS-4

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Hello and good morning again!

Today we look at one final song related to summer, but this time we look at a more contemporary tune by the English-Irish "boy band" One Direction. The song is called "Summer Love" and it's from their 2012 album called "Take Me Home".

You can listen to the song and see the lyrics at the following YouTube link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d164x2dT3ck

Yeah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Can't believe you're packing your bags
Trying so hard not to cry
Had the best time and now it's the worst time
But we have to say goodbye

Don't promise that you're gonna write
Don't promise that you'll call
Just promise that you won't forget we had it all

'Cause you were mine for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over
Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember
You were my summer love
You always will be my summer love

Wish that we could be alone now
If we could find some place to hide
Make the last time just like the first time
Push a button and rewind

Don't say the word that's on your lips
Don't look at me that way
Just promise you'll remember
When the sky is grey

'Cause you were mine for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over
Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember
You were my summer love
You always will be my summer love

So please don't make this any harder
We can't take this any farther
And I know there's nothing that I wanna change, change

'Cause you were mine for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over
Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember
You were my summer love (summer love)
You always will be my summer love (summer love)
You always will be my summer love (yeah)
You always will be my summer love

Tomorrow we present our last Essential Weekly Vitamin of the 2013-14 academic year. We include suggestions for keeping your English alive during your summer holidays.

Until then, have a great day!

SUMMER CLASSICS-3

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Good morning again!

Today we continue with another classic summer song by the Beach Boys, this time from 1965: California Girls. It is believed that Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys member who wrote the song together with Mike Love, conceived the song when high on LSD.

Well East coast girls are hip
I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down there

The Mid-West farmer's daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

The West coast has the sunshine
And the girls all get so tanned
I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island
Dolls by a palm tree in the sand

I been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the world

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)

I'll see you tomorrow with one final summer song!

Have a great day!

SUMMER CLASSICS-2

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Good morning!

Here is another classic summer song, sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. It was written by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera, Porgy and Bess. It is said that this tune is one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music, with more than 33,000 covers by groups and solo performers.

(Music by George Gershwin / Lyrics by DuBose Heyward)

You can listen to the song and see the lyrics at the following YouTube link:

Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Your daddy's rich and your ma is good lookin'
So hush, little baby, don't you cry

One of these mornin's, you're gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But 'til that mornin', there is nothin' can harm you
With Daddy and Mummy, Mummy standing by
Don't you, don't you cry

I'll see you tomorrow, with another summer classic!

Enjoy your day!
