LIKE-4: meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you had a nice weekend.

In January of 2010, we did a few Daily Vitamins about the uses of the English word like. This week we are going to continue that series, which is why the title of today's Daily Vitamin is "Like-4" and not "Like-1". This week we will look at 3 or 4 different expressions with the word like, which are quite common.

Today's like expression is: more like it (informal)

Meaning 1: better; more satisfactory

Example 1:
Now that's more like it. This food is good, not like the food they served on the airplane.

Meaning 2: used to give what you think is a better description of something.

Example 2:
Jack: What are you guys talking about?
Aaron: Arguing about, more like it.
