TENSE TUESDAY: FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS AS A CAUSE: meaning and examples

Hello, everyone!

We are back for another Tense Tuesday lesson, and today we are focusing on the Future Perfect Continuous. One of the ways we use it is to show cause and effect

Remember that the form is the following:

will have been present participle (-ing)

Example 1: I'll probably get promoted to manager next year because, by then, I will have been working here for 7 years.
(The time she has spent at the job is what will cause her to get a promotion.)

Example 2: She plans to start looking for a job in France in 2019: she will have been studying French for 4 years by that point.
(She will speak French well after four years, and that will cause her to look for a job where she can use her French.)

That's all for today. Thank you for reading! Have an excellent day.
