IDIOMS WITH WATER: ‘TO BLOW SOMEONE OUT OF THE WATER’

Welcome back, everyone! I hope your week is going well. 

We are continuing our theme of idioms with the word WATER.

Today we are looking at the colloquial expression TO BLOW SOMEONE / SOMETHING OUT OF THE WATER

Definition 1: to defeat someone or ruin something.

Example 1: We blew the other team out of the water. The final score was 10-0!

Definition 2: to impress or excite someone.

Example 2: Your presentation blew me out of the water. What a great job you did. 

Example 3: Your daughter blew us out of the water with her violin solo. She's so talented!
