COSTUME vs. CUSTOM: meaning and examples

Hello.

Today's word is: Costume

Meaning: clothes worn by actors in a play or film or worn by somebody to make them look like something else; clothes that you wear, especially at parties, to make you appear to be a different character (also called Fancy Dress in UK English).

Example 1:
Tomorrow is Halloween. Are you going to wear a costume?

Example 2:
The actors were still in costume and make-up.

Notice that this word is NOT translated to Spanish as costumbre. We translate costumbre as custom.

Example 3:
I don't like the custom of buying gifts at Christmas. It causes lots of wasteful spending and stress
