ACTIVITY BOOK NUM. 1 VOCAB: PERSISTENT: meaning and examples

Welcome back, everyone!

If you've read some of our other lessons from this week, then you know that our theme is Vocabulary from Ziggurat's Activity Book Number 1. Our activity books are a
great way to improve your listening and vocabulary skills through self-study! Today's word comes from these lessons; the word is PERSISTENT.

Definition 1: An adjective to describe someone who tries to do something and is very determined; someone who tries to do something in an unreasonable way.

Example 1: Don't give up! You must be persistent.

The above example is positive, but this word can also be used in a more negative way.

Definition 2: Something ongoing; something repetitive or without end.

Example 2: The police have received persistent complaints from your neighbours about your barking dog.

Example 3: The company fired her because she made persistent errors in her reports.

Example 4: I quit my job because I was tired of the persistent criticism from my cruel manager.
