ALONE-4: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone.

Today we continue our review of expressions with alone and related words.

Today's expression is: let alone

Meaning
: this expression is used after a statement to indicate that because the first thing is not true or possible, the next thing cannot be true or possible either.

Example 1
:
We don't have enough room in this house for us, let alone any guests. Tell your parents to stay in a hotel!

Example 2
:
The government doesn't have enough money to pay its current debt, let alone an economic stimulus package.
