Today's 1st expression is: to take to something like a duck to water
It means: to become used to something very easily, without problems or fears; to learn a new activity very easily.
Example 1:
Liz has taken to motherhood like a duck to water.
Example 2:
David has taken to his new school like a duck to water.
Today's 2nd expression is: to break the duck
It means: to be successful again, after a series of failures.
Example 3:
Madrid finally broke the duck, after years of not winning the league.
Today's 3rd expression is: a dead duck
It means: someone or something that is not successful or useful.
Example 4:
The project was a dead duck from the start due to a lack of funding.
