BACK (TO): meaning and examples
Welcome to September, a month when many of us return to work or school after our holidays.
Today's expression is: back (to)
It means: to return. We often use it after the verbs go or come.
Example 1
I feel ready to go back to work after four weeks of holidays.
Example 2
I hope you come back to Barcelona soon.
Example 3
Can you come back* home when you've finished the shopping?
(*We do not use the proposition to before the word home.)
If you have children, you may decide to go to one of the back-to-school sales at a shop or a department store.
