Today's verb is: TO SIFT
Definition: a SIEVE is a wire net shaped like a bowl; TO SIFT is to put flour, sugar, etc. through a SIEVE to break up large pieces.
Sentence 1: After taking the cake out of the oven, you can sift some icing sugar over the top of it.
Sentence 2: Would you like to help? Great! To start, sift the flour and baking powder into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
