BAKING vs. COOKING
BAKING VS. COOKING: meaning and examples
Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope that you are all well today and that you enjoyed your long weekend, if you had one.
As I mentioned last week, for December's lessons we are taking a break from the normal Daily Vitamin schedule. Instead, we are focusing on holiday-related English lessons.
Food is an important part of the holidays, so today we are looking at the words BAKING and COOKING. What's the difference?
Baking refers to things that are cooked in the oven. Things that we bake include desserts, like biscuits (cookies in US English) and cakes and tarts.
Cooking generally refers to things that are prepared on the cooker (or stove in US English). Things we cook include pasta, sauces, and the famous Spanish tortilla.
Do you prefer to cook or to bake? And what are your favourite holiday recipes? Share with us on our Facebook page. We would love to know what is served on your family's table during the holidays.
Thanks for sharing, and for reading.
Have a great day!
