BRIBERY
BRIBERY: meaning and examples
I hope you had a great weekend.
If you have been reading Spanish newspapers recently, you know that corruption is the topic of the month. This week our Daily Vitamins are going to explain some words related to corruption.
Today's word is: bribery (noun); to bribe someone (verb)
It means: to offer or give money or presents to someone in exchange for services or influence.
Example 1:
The number of bribery cases involving local politicians is rising. However, nobody has been prosecuted yet; and even more surprising, virtually no one has resigned!
Example 2:
I had to bribe the ticket seller with twenty dollars so that I could get a seat on the bus.
Have a transparent day! :-)
