CASE-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a great weekend.

Today is a holiday in Barcelona, but we have decided to send the Daily Vitamin anyway. This week we will do a short series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with the word CASE.

Today's expression is: as the case may be

Meaning: used to say that one of two or more possibilities is true, but which one is true depends on the circumstances.

Example 1:
We may be getting a new CEO at the end of the month --or not, as the case may be.

Example 2:
The most important aspect of a candidate's CV is his or her experience, or lack thereof, as the case may be.

Remember that you can make inquiries about today's Daily Vitamin by adding a comment in the Daily Vitamin section on our website. The more you participate, the more effective the lessons will be.

Have a nice day!
