CHAIN-4: meaning and examples

Today we finish our look at expressions with the English word CHAIN.
Today's expression is: to chain smoke
Meaning: to smoke cigarettes continuously, one after the other; often it is done by lighting the next one from the one you have just smoked.
Example 1:
She used to chain-smoke, but when she developed respiratory problems she decided to quit.
This expression can also be a noun.
Example 2:
For years he was a chain-smoker, but now he only smokes three or four cigarettes per day.
