CLOCK vs. WATCH: meaning and examples
In today's Daily Vitamin we look at the difference between the words clock and watch.
Definition of a clock: A mechanical or digital instrument for measuring or showing the time. A clock is often displayed on a wall or on top of a surface, like an alarm clock.
Definition of a watch: A type of clock that is usually worn around the wrist by means of a strap. Some old-fashioned watches are held by a chain and placed in the pocket.
Example 1:
The old lady had a clock in each room and a huge grandfather clock in the front hall that she would wind every evening.
Example 2:
I used to wear a watch but now I just look at my mobile phone if I want to know the time.
