COLOUR EXPRESSIONS (RED)-2
COLOUR EXPRESSIONS (RED)-2: meaning and examples
In the first week of February 2009 we did a series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with the colours red, blue, green and black.

This week we are going to do a second series with another expression for each colour.
Today's expression is: red tape
Meaning: official rules that seem more complicated than necessary and prevent things from being done quickly.
Example 1:
We won the public tender for the English training, but were almost disqualified due to the incredible amount o red tape that was necessary to begin the service. We almost didn't get it in on time.
Example 2:
There is still public money available to fund the new primary school but it's tied up in bureaucratic red tape.
I hope you have a great Monday!
