CONGRATULATIONS

Good morning!

Yesterday's Daily Vitamin was about responding to sad news in a social situation (GIVING CONDOLENCES) so today we will look at how to respond to someone who tells us some good news or when they are celebrating something.

Today's 1st expression is: Congratulations!

Meaning: used when you want to congratulate someone (that is, to say that you are happy about their good luck or success).

Example 1:
I heard about your promotion! Congratulations!

Today's 2nd expression is: to congratulate somebody on something

Example 2:
I'd like to congratulate you on getting the lead part in the play. You'll be great.
