Today we look at a very common informal, spoken expression.
Today's expression is: of course not (or more informally 'course not)
Meaning: used to emphasize the fact that you are saying "no".
Example 1:
Jennifer: Are you thinking of starting to smoke again?
Judith: Of course not! After all the effort that I've made, the last thing I'm going to do is start smoking again.
Example 2:
Olga: Do you mind if I take a ten-minute break to take a walk around the block? I need to get some fresh air.
Matthew: Of course not! Take your time.
