CROCODILE TEARS

Today we look at another colloquial English expression that we tend to use in conversation. 

Today's expression is: CROCODILE TEARS

Meaning: false tears; tears that you cry when you are not really sad or sorry.

Example 1: John apologized and shed crocodile tears when his girlfriend found out that he was cheating on her. His insincerity was evident to everyone. 

Example 2: Throughout history, there have been examples of politicians giving speeches filled with crocodile tears, in their attempt to gain sympathy when they had done something unethical or illegal.
