DEAL (1): meaning and examples

This week we will look at meanings and uses of a very common English word: DEAL (noun).
Its most obvious meaning is: a formal business or political agreement.
Example 1:
The republican president made a deal with the democratic senators and was therefore able to pass the new legislation.
Example 2:
The two airline companies reached a deal in order to avoid bankruptcy.
