DESCRIBING HAIR AND SKIN COLOUR: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone, Today we're going to look at how to talk about colouring, that is... the colour of a person's skin or the tone of their hair. To talk about this, we generally use adjectives like dark or fair, and then quantify them with adverbs like quite or very. Example 1 Dark-haired people often get tanned easily. Example 2 Linda needs to be careful when she is sunbathing; she's very fair-skinned and tends to go red and burn (quemarse)! The adjective pale (pálido) is used in a similar way to fair, but only when describing skin, not hair. Example 3 Fiona looks like a Hollywood actress from the forties; she's really pale-skinned with very dark hair and she always wears scarlet lipstick (pintalabios)! There are many more words we can use to describe people's hair and skin colour, so we will look at more of this vocabulary on another occasion.
