DONE-4: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. Today we finish our look at English expression that use the participle done, which comes from the verb to do.

Today's expression is: to be / get done for doing something (informal)

Meaning: to be caught and punished for doing something illegal, but that isn't too serious.

Example 1:
I got done for speeding on my way home from Madrid. (= I got a speeding ticket.)

Example 2:
I was done for arriving late to the meeting. The boss took me off the steering committe. I was really excited about participating on that committe!
