ENJOY / CAN'T BEAR (LIKES & DISLIKES): meaning and examples

Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. Happy Friday! I hope your week has been great.

Today we look at one final pair of words / expressions that we use to express our likes and dislikes.

Today's 1st expression is: To enjoy

Meaning: to take delight in or get pleasure from something (an activity or occasion).

Example 1: Thanks for the evening, Donna. I really enjoyed the film.

Example 2: She really wants to travel because she enjoys meeting new people and seeing new places.

Today's 2nd expression is: Can't bear

Meaning: To dislike something or someone very much, often to the point that it makes you feel annoyed or impatient.

Example 3: She can't bear heavy-metal music, but her boyfriend loves it.

Example 4: He can't bear people smoking around him when he's eating.

For one last time this week, I hope you will write your own original sentence with one or both of these expressions. You can post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback about them ASAP.

Enjoy the rest of your day and have an excellent weekend. We'll be back Monday with another lesson.

All the best!
