EXPRESSIONS WITH 'ALL'-2: meaning and examples
Good morning.
Today we continue looking at expressions with the English word all.
Today's first expression is: of all the... (informal)
Meaning: used to express anger.
Example 1:
I just locked my keys inside the car. Of all the stupid things to do! Now I'm going to have to call a locksmith to open it.
Today's second expression is: (not) at all (informal)
Meaning: in any way; to any degree
Example 2:
I didn't enjoy the film at all.
Example 3:
She is not at all friendly to her ex-husband.
Not at all can also be used as a polite reply to an expression of thanks. In this case it means the same as you're welcome (de nada).
Example 4:
Elisabeth: Thank you very much for your help John.
John: not at all. It was my pleasure.
