A SCARF is typically a piece of cloth worn around the neck or head. But it is also a verb used in the phrasal verb TO SCARF (SOMETHING) DOWN.
Definition: To eat something very quickly.
Example 1: We scarfed down our meal and then went back to work.
Example 2: Wow, you scarfed your dessert down. I guess you liked it!
As you can see from the examples, this transitive phrasal verb is optionally separable.
