EXPRESSIONS WITH ‘COLD’: HOT AND COLD
EXPRESSIONS WITH ‘COLD’: HOT AND COLD: meaning and examples
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin!
Today is our first post of February, which is a month often associated with the cold. For that reason, this week's theme will be Expressions with the word COLD.
We will begin with the expression: (TO BE) HOT AND COLD
Definition: Going back and forth between two opposite states.
Example 1: She's hot and cold. On our last date she seemed like she really liked me, but then she didn't call me for three days. I can't tell if she likes me or not.
Example 2: You say you want to move to Berlin, and then you say you don't. Why are you so hot and cold about this choice?
We looked at this lesson ten years ago; below is the link if you'd like to take a look. Notice that our 2010 lesson used the expression TO GO HOT AND COLD, which is a variation of today's lesson.
