It's our fourth lesson of the week with our theme Expressions with the word COLD.
Today we are learning the phrase: TO KNOCK SOMEONE OUT COLD
This is actually a variation of the phrasal verb, TO KNOCK SOMEONE OUT.
Definition: To make someone unconscious.
Example 1: I slipped and fell, and the fall knocked me out.
We sometimes add COLD to the end of this phrase for emphasis.
Example 2: I slipped and fell, and the fall knocked me out cold.
Example 3: Those pain pills knocked me out cold.
Example 4: He accidentally hit me with the bat, and it knocked me out cold.
