EXPRESSIONS WITH ‘COLD’: TAKE COLD: meaning and examples

Today is our last Expressions-with-the-word-COLD lesson and we are looking at the phrase TO TAKE COLD.
Definition: To become sick with a cold.
Example 1: We didn't wear our jackets when we played in the snow, and now my mom says we are going to take cold.
Example 2: You'll take cold if you don't eat and sleep well at this time of the year; everyone seems to be getting sick!
We often also say TO CATCH COLD.
Example 3: You'll catch cold if you don't wear socks. At least that's what my grandma says.
