EXPRESSIONS WITH END (1)
EXPRESSIONS WITH END (1): meaning and examples
I hope your weekend was pleasant! The past couple of weeks we have explained some expressions with the words START and MIDDLE. This week we will look at expressions with the word END. Can you see a pattern? :-D
Today's expression is: TO MAKE ENDS MEET
It means: to earn or have sufficient money to pay for your necessities (e.g. a place to live, electricity bills, food, etc.) but not have any money left for extra things or small luxuries.
Example 1:
Andy had to take a weekend job, in addition to his Monday to Friday job, just to make ends meet.
Example 2:
We may not be able to make ends meet this month. This would mean using our credit card until we get paid next month.
Tomorrow we will learn another expression with the word END.
Have a pleasant day!
