EXPRESSIONS WITH END (3): meaning and examples
Today's expression is: DEAD END
It means: a street with no exit or way out. This expression is also used to refer to a situation which has no solution or way of progressing.
Example 1:
Don't take that road! It's a dead end. You need to turn left here instead.
Example 2:
The negotiations came to a dead end because both sides refused to cede their positions.
I certainly hope that you don't end up* in any dead-end situations today!
