We begin with the expression: TO LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH
Definition: To find something wrong with a gift or a favour; to question the value of a gift.Â
Example 1: When I gave Tim the tickets to the concert, he asked me what row the seats were in. I can't believe he'd look a gift horse in the mouth like that!
Example 2: I know I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I really don't like the smell of the perfume that my cousin gave me. Do you think I should exchange it?
