EXPRESSIONS WITH GIFT: LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH : meaning and examples

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you had a good weekend!

It's the first Daily Vitamin of December. Are you in the holiday spirit? To help get you in the mood for the holiday season, this week's theme is Expressions with the word GIFT in them.

We begin with the expression: TO LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH

Definition: To find something wrong with a gift or a favour; to question the value of a gift.

Example 1: When I gave Tim the tickets to the concert, he asked me what row the seats were in. I can't believe he'd look a gift horse in the mouth like that!

Example 2: I know I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I really don't like the smell of the perfume that my cousin gave me. Do you think I should exchange it?

That's all for today. Thank you for reading!
