EXPRESSIONS WITH SPRING (SPRING FOR): meaning and examples

It's our third day of Expressions with Spring. Today we are looking at the phrasal verb TO SPRING FOR (SOMETHING).
Definition: To buy something for another person; to buy something expensive.
Example 1: I'll spring for coffee today.
Example 2: Let's spring for the nicer bottle of wine. We don't go out that often.
Example 3: He thinks we should spring for first class seats on our flight to London. I don't think it's worth it for such a short flight.
