EYE EXPRESSIONS-4: meaning and examples
Good morning again.
Today we look at yet another English expression that uses the word eye in it.
Today's expression is: to be up to your eyes in something
Meaning: to have a lot of something to deal with; to have a lot of work.
Example 1:
Since they sacked twenty-five percent of the employees, we're up to our eyes in work. I hope this crisis ends soon.
Example 2:
I'm sorry Mike, I can't go out with you guys tonight. I'm up to my eyes in work.
