FEEL LIKE: meaning and examples
Good morning. Today we look at another expression from the Ziggurat Breakfast Club, which was originally covered on January 18, 2006.
Today's expression is: to feel like something / to feel like doing something
It means: to want something or to want to do something.
Example 1
A: Do you feel like going out to dinner tonight?
B: Why? Don't you feel like cooking?
A: Not really. I'm a bit tired.
Example 2
I really feel like a cigarette right now, but I know if I wait a few moments, my craving will pass.
You can use the verb to fancy in the same way. (For more information about the word fancy, see the Daily Vitamins from the 14th and the 17th of May, 2004.)
Examples:
I don't fancy cooking.
I really fancy going out to dinner.
