FIGHT OR FLIGHT: meaning and examples

Today's expression is: fight or flight
It refers to: a survival instinct to stay and fight an enemy or to run away from the enemy (flight) if we think we cannot win the fight.
Example 1:
Psychologists believe that many of our reactions to modern-day situations are, in fact, a version of the fight or flight instinct that has evolved in living creatures over time.
Example 2:
Gerry: Why did you walk away from that guy in the bar who insulted you?
Frank: Are you kidding me? Did you see how big he was? Fight or flight, man! I wasn't going to win that fight so I preferred the flight option!
