FIND-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a good weekend.

Today we begin a series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with the English word FIND. First let's look at the general meaning of FIND.

Meaning of find: to discover something or someone unexpectedly or by chance, or because you have searched for it / them.

Example 1:
We have found a great new restaurant near the Ziggurat office.

Example 2:
The lost child was eventually found safe and sound.

Now we're ready to look at some expressions with find.

Today's find expression is: to find fault with someone / something

Meaning: to look for and discover mistakes in someone or something; to complain about someone or something.

Example 3:
I don't like having Anthony as our boss. All he knows how to do is find fault with our work. It seems like the harder I work, the more he criticises me.
