GERUND AND INFINITIVE? (TO GO ON): meaning and examples

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you've had a wonderful week.

Today is the last day of our Gerund vs. Infinitive Challenge.

Here are your sentences, this time with the verb TO GO ON (in the past tense), which is a synonym of TO CONTINUE.

Sentence 1: After graduating from university, Taylor went on to act in movies.

Sentence 2: After graduating from university, Taylor went on acting in movies.

In one of these sentences, Taylor was acting while she was attending university, and continued after graduating. Is it sentence 1 or 2? Once you've identified which sentence corresponds to that meaning, tell us what the other sentence means.

Give us your answers on one of our Social Media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will post the correct answers later. We will also include the answer in Monday's Daily Vitamin email.

That's all for this week.

Thank you for reading and participating and have a great weekend!
