GO EXPRESSIONS-1: meaning and examples

Hello everyone. Good morning. I hope you had a good weekend.

There are dozens (perhaps hundreds) of expression in English with the verb GO. This week we are going to look at a few.

Today's expression is: Anything goes (informal)

Meaning: We say this when anything that someone says or does is accepted or allowed, even if it is very unusual or shocking.

Example 1:
I was in the cinema the other day and during the film three different people answered their mobile telphones and began speaking loudly! It was so rude! Anything goes these days.

Example 2:
Alice: I know there will be very important people at the dinner party, but is it okay if I wear shorts and trainers?
Andrew: Oh yeah...don't worry...anything goes.
