HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!: meaning and examples
Good morning and happy New Year!
I hope you enjoyed your holidays; I also hope that you were able to stay in contact with English, at least a little. Remember, the most difficult thing about learning English is maintaining what you've already learned.
If you really want to improve your English in 2008, you should do LITTLE things often, rather than "big" things from time to time. It's consistency with easy-to-do activities that will finally push you to the level that you want. Try to create a habit of doing some of the following activities every day in 2008; I guarantee that you will notice the difference!
1) Read English aloud for 3 to 5 minutes per day to improve pronunciation.
2) Listen to 5 minutes of English (or "watch" 5 minutes of English) to improve comprehension.
3) Read for pleasure for 10 minutes (magazines, novels, newspapers, websites, etc.) to develop vocabulary and awareness of new structures.
Notice that none of these activities requires more than 5 or 10 minutes per day (which even the busiest of people have), they don't require a teacher and they don't cost anything. Furthermore...they can actually be quite enjoyable.
No one can teach you English, you have to learn it. If you want to improve your English, get serious and make a five to ten-minute daily commitment. You will be very happy that you did.
Enjoy your day.
