HIGH-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

We are nearing the end of another academic year and now that it's summer, the temperatures are quite HIGH. So, this week we are going to study some expressions with the adjective HIGH.

Today's HIGH expression is: To be on / get on/off your high horse

Meaning: To behave in a way that shows you think you are better than other people.

Example 1:
Why don't you get off your high horse! You aren't as intelligent as you think.

Example 2:
Janet. You can't always get on your high horse and judge others by your own perfectionist standards! Why don't you relax and let people work at their own pace; they're doing fine.

I hope you enjoyed today's expression. Tomorrow we will continue with another HIGH expression.

Have a wonderful day!
