HIGH-3: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone.

Today we continue our series about expressions with the adjective HIGH.

Today's HIGH expression is: as high as a kite (informal)

Meaning: behaving in a very excited way because of being strongly affected by alcohol or drugs; to feel very happy or excited.

Example 1:
By the time I arrived at the party everyone was as high as a kite. I don't drink alcohol anymore, so I was totally sober; therefore, I found it quite boring.

Example 2:
Winning the prize gave my self-confidence a tremendous boost; I felt as high as a kite for several days afterwards.
