HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH IN THE SUMMER (BELIEF & DECISION)
HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH IN THE SUMMER (BELIEF & DECISION): meaning and examples
Hello everyone. I hope you are doing well, and I hope you had a good weekend.
Many people study English seasonally; that is, they only study during certain periods of the year. For example, they may study between October and May, but in June, July, August, and September they are on a holiday from learning, so they don't have contact with English. And they may also take a 3 to 4-week break during the Christmas holidays and another week or two for Easter (Semana Santa). When you treat your learning like a seasonal activity, rather than a life-long journey, you are usually not very successful because the process lacks consistency.
This Thursday, July 13th from 18:00 to 19:00, I am offering a webinar to provide tips and tools to help you use the 2023 summer holidays as an opportunity to improve your English and develop habits that can help you to be a more successful learner in the future. The webinar will be about 45-50 minutes and we'll have about 10-15 minutes for Q&A at the end. The session will be held in Spanglish; a mixture of Spanish (spoken) and English (spoken and in the PowerPoint).
You can sign up for the session at the following link: https://ziggurat-es.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0rcuChqDwjGNx3j12WVBPaFWaDKTiXVfUI
During this week, I want to go over some of the key points from the webinar so that, even if you can't come to the webinar, you can understand some of the main points.
Belief and Decision
Before ending, I wanted to speak about Belief and Decision. Most people don't learn English because they are blocking themselves mentally. They don't believe that they can learn, and they haven't truly made a committed decision to improve their English. You have to foment the belief that you have the ability to learn English, because you do have the ability... I promise you. However, you have to be willing to do what is necessary in order to learn; that's where decision comes in. Decide you're going to do it and put your study sessions in your calendar.
We'll talk more about this in the webinar on Thursday. I hope you can join us.
All the best!
