HUMAN RESOURCES VOCABULARY: (TO BE) MADE REDUNDANT
HUMAN RESOURCES VOCABULARY: (TO BE) MADE REDUNDANT: meaning and examples
Hello and happy Friday to you all. Are you ready for our last lesson of the week?
Perhaps you've joined us earlier this week. If so, you know that this week our theme is Human Resources Vocabulary.
Our last lesson with this theme is the phrase: (TO BE) MADE REDUNDANT
Definition: To be fired. To be dismissed from a job because you are no longer needed.
Example 1: I only worked there for two days and then they sold the company. I was quickly made redundant.
Example 2: Is it illegal to be made redundant when you are pregnant?
Example 3: He was made redundant after the company merger.
This is more common in British English than in American English. In the US they say "to be let go" or "to be laid off" or "to be fired."
We had a Daily Vitamin lesson with this expression in 2015. You can find the lesson at the following link: https://www.ziggurat.es/en/daily-vitamin-en/?vitamin=2649
Thank you for reading this week's lessons. I hope you learned something new. Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday!
