HUMAN RESOURCES VOCABULARY: TO HOLD (SOMEONE) ACCOUNTABLE: meaning and examples
Hello everyone, Happy New Year, and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin! I hope you enjoyed your holidays.
We are starting off the year with a business/work-related theme: Human Resources Vocabulary. The vocabulary we cover this week will be useful to anyone working in HR, but it will also be useful outside of this department (and outside of the office).
We are beginning with the expression: TO HOLD (SOMEONE) ACCOUNTABLE.
Definition: To consider someone responsible (for something).
Example 1: The owners hold me accountable for the accuracy of all our financial reports.
Example 2: John worked at the grill station of our restaurant, so the owner holds him accountable for cooking every steak perfectly.
Example 3: Managers should not hold employees accountable for things that are outside of their normal job responsibilities.
Example 4: Whoever did this needs to be held accountable.

That's all for today. Thank you for reading! Have a fantastic day.
