I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH
I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU'RE GOING THRO: meaning and examples
Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope your week has started off well.
Today we continue with two more phrases that we use to to express sympathy and condolences. I think it helps to have some of these phrases learned, since showing sympathy and condolences can be very challenging in a foreign language.
Today's 1st sympathy phrase is: I can’t imagine what you’re going through.
Use / explanation: This is an expression of empathy that acknowledges the pain of another person.
Sentence 1: I can't imagine what you're going through, but I’m here for you. Just give me a call if you need anything.
Today's 2nd sympathy phrase is: If there’s anything I can do, please let me know.
Use / explanation: This is an offer of support and help to someone.
Sentence 2: Mark... I heard about what you’re going through; if there is anything I can do, please let me know.
👉 As always, to get some English practice, I encourage you to write your own original sentences with these phrases. You can share your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Bluesky) and we will give you feedback about your writing ASAP.
We appreciate your participation.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
