IDIOM: GIVE OR TAKE
IDIOM: GIVE OR TAKE: meaning and examples
Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.
Today I wanted to go over an expression that we looked at over 11 years ago.
Today's expression is: GIVE OR TAKE
Meaning: used to indicate that an amount is approximate. That is, it could be a little more or a little less than the actual amount.
Example 1:
The drive from New York to San Franciso will take 43 hours, give or take a couple of hours.
Example 2:
Tarragona has a population of around 132,300 people, give or take a few thousand people. (So, the population might be slightly more than 132,300 people, or slightly less.)
