IDIOMS WITH ‘SPELL’: SPELL IT OUTâ

If you've been reading the lessons this week, then you know that our theme is Idioms with the word SPELL. Today we are learning the phrase TO SPELL IT OUT (for someone).

Definition 1: To make something clear. 

Example 1: She didn't know how to take the train to my village. I had to spell it out for her. 

Example 2: Do I have to spell it out for you?

Definition 2 (separable phrasal verb): To write the letters of a word or words. 

Example 3: Can you spell your name out for me?

Example 4: What's the name of the city again? Can you spell it out for me?
