As I mentioned yesterday, this week we are going to look at some inspiring quotes in English, that different leaders have made over the years. Today we start with one that is very related to your desire to learn English.

Believe you can and you're halfway there. (Theodore Roosevelt)

I have found that what is most blocking English students from reaching their English goals is their own mind. They don't believe that they can learn English, so they don't. They've been trying for years, maybe even decades, and they are not satisfied with their level, so they've come to the conclusion that it's impossible... that they can't.

The truth is, if you want to learn English, the first step is to believe that you can learn; Roosevelt was correct. Forget about the past and the fact that, until now, you have not reached your desired level. Just focus on the present moment and begin to foment the belief that you can, indeed, learn English. You just have to be consistent and dedicate 15-30 minutes every day, or almost every day. And you have to be kind to yourself. Don't berate yourself or criticize yourself because you skip a day of study, or when you make a mistake. You have to begin to support yourself in your English journey, instead of criticising yourself.
