INTERNET VERBS: meaning and examples
Yesterday we explained the expression TO SEARCH FOR information on the Internet. Today we are going to look at some other common verbs for using the Internet.
TO BROWSE means: to look for information on the Internet (using net browsers like Explorer, Safari, Firefox or Google Chrome).
Example 1:
I used to watch a lot of TV but now I spend my time browsing on-line.
TO GOOGLE means: to use the search engine GOOGLE to look for information.
Example 2:
I googled my name and I was surprised to see how many times it appears on-line.
TO SURF THE INTERNET/NET means: to look around the Internet, going from one website to another.
(Note: This expression is becoming antiquated.)
Example 3:
Surfing the Internet used to be more common, but now most people just use Google to find the information they want.
TO POST means: to leave a comment or information on a webpage.
Example 4:
We love it when our Daily Vitamin readers post comments on our Facebook page.
