IRREGULAR PLURAL NOUNS (SCARF/SCARVES)Â : meaning and examples
Happy Tuesday, everyone! Are you having a nice week? I hope so.
This week we are looking at Irregular Plural Nouns. These are nouns that do not follow the normal patterns when they are in the plural form.Â
Today we are looking at the word SCARF. In the plural, it is SCARVES. It is irregular because we are changing the "f" to "-ves." Actually, this is an "irregular" pattern that happens with quite a few nouns in English (knife/knives, life/lives, wife/wives, leaf/leaves, etc.)
Example 1: What a beautiful scarf.Â
Example 2: In this picture, we are all wearing scarves.Â
Example 3: How many scarves do you own?
Example 4: Should we get Mom a scarf for Mother's Day?
That's all for today. Thank you for reading! Have a great day.Â
